And the Winner is… Typsy Rose Lee! This stripper with a heart of gold wowed the audience with her ‘quick change’ talent and ability to walk a nearly straight line when questioned by authorities. Congratulations Typsy!
More than 1,900 people filled the Orpheum Theatre on October 7th to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Best in Drag Show, www.bestindragshow.org, and raise funds for AIDS for AIDS, a program of Alliance for Housing and Healing. Thanks to the generous sponsors, ticket buyers, and donors, the event raised more than $300,000 to ensure that our neighbors suffering with HIV/AIDS do not lose their homes or go hungry even as medical bills pile up. Thank you!
Patrick Rush led the festivities and covered up occasional mishaps with his quick wit from the Master of Ceremonies podium. As the Artistic Director and Choreographer, Jeffrey Drew made everyone “louder, faster, funnier.”
The awarding of the Patrick R. Service Award to Tommy Quintana was a highlight of the evening as the crowd cheered him toward his dental education goal. The Award will fund his certification program and supplies needed for his classes.
A very special thank you to our celebrity judges who generously gave their time, talent, and donations to the event:
